To mark her 6 month birthday, Addie decided to celebrate by taking her first actual crawling steps today! For the last two weeks she has been obsessed with perfecting her crawling skills... and it sure is paying off!

Of course, this new feat took LOTS of effort and practice, here are some pics of her failed attempts (dont pay attention to the lame pants... they arent part of her outfit, I just put them on to keep her legs and feet warm and also to help her skin to not get overworked from crawling practice):

She spends every moment getting up onto her hands and knees and rocking back and forth, it's really just too cute. She's only successfully done a couple of real steps so far... but I don't think it will be too long until she leaves her army crawling days behind.
Here's a sweet pic I took of her while she was sleeping after crawling practice the other day:

Here are some updates on Addie in general, for those who are interested in the details:
- She is OBSESSED with toys. Now that she can army crawl, she just makes laps around the room, playing with each toy on the way for about 30 seconds. She makes out with them, bats them around in front of her, waves them over her head in triumph, then tries to hold on to as many toys as possible while still crawling to the next. She played with her toys before... but this is taking it to a whole new level.
- She loves to clap her feet! Every time she rolls to her back, she sits there clapping her feet as though they were her hands; she's surprisingly good at it. She does it over and over- it's really cute.
- She's sleeping so well these days. She goes to bed between 8-9:30pm or so, sleeps until 4 or 5am then wakes up to sleepily eat shortly, then goes back to sleep until 9:30 or 10:00 am. Sometimes she sleeps the whole night through, but she almost always wakes up for her one little feeding to tide her over till morning.
- I no longer have to flip her onto her tummy to make her sleep for naps. All I do is throw her in the crib, let her talk to herself, roll around, and crawl in her crib for however long she feels inclined, then she rolls onto her tummy and falls asleep. Her naps are generally shorter than they used to be, but she still gets a really good long nap in every other day or so.
- She absolutely LOVES her baby food now. I stopped giving her rice cereal after two horribly failed attempts and went straight to babyfood. Addie gets a jar of veggies and a jar of fruit every night and she pounds it down so fast. I'm pretty sure she'd eat 5 jars if I let her. Her eating skills have really improved so much too, she hardly makes a mess at all and swallows all of her food right down.
- She has become such a talker, it's stinkin' adorable. All day long she makes noises and mimics the sounds I make, always making sure to include a "mommum" in every phrase.
So that's the update on sweet our little ladybug! I'm sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to make sure to include all of the things she's been up to.
As if this post didn't contain enough pictures... here's a pic of our front walk. I went to bed and the trees were green and full of leaves. I woke up and went outside the next morning and everything had turned bright yellow and the ground was covered in the newly-colored leaves. I guess fall really is here!

New pics up at the picasa album.
